Zzzzzzz

Hey there little dude,

It’s been a while since I sent you a note. We are kind of hunkered down and off the grid getting all prepared for you. You’ll be here in 94 days- can you believe that!? You weigh about 2 pounds, and you are getting big!

Sometimes you push really hard outwards and we can feel your body sticking out. Other times I put my hand on moms tummy and you punch or kick right away- like you are high-fiving dad!

Some observations as we finish up week 26 and the second trimester:

1. Babies take a really long time to arrive.

2. Someone should write a book or create a website with entertainment ideas for expectant parents.

3. If mom is really still and really quiet for more than a few minutes, it’s because you are kicking her and she is being selfish so I don’t come over and make you stop.

4. Moms favorite time of day is after dinner when she lays down on her back and you start kicking.

5. Overtime and expectant moms don’t mix.

6. Christmas shopping is hard when your wife is pregnant.

7. Don’t buy a boat.

8. It’s impossible to get a photo that captures how cute your momma looks with you in her.

9. Getting ready to be a dad makes you way more calm.

10. Choosing a name for your son is really hard.

11. I dream about having a big game room, and you being like 5, and us playing ping pong, pool, and watching football. I realized the man cave in our next house will be for 2.

12. I can’t buy concert tickets or plan any vacations for next year because our little man will be here.

13. Apparently you love French fries and quesadillas.

14. You have more clothes than I do.

15. Hanging out in your room is pretty cool.

16. I haven’t slept more than an hour or two in 3 nights. Your mom kicks and rolls like she is in someone’s tummy all night.

17. I’m already proud of you and you haven’t done anything yet.

Basically at this point we are just working and killing time as we wait for you to arrive. Your Grandma and Grandpa Meinsen will be here in a few weeks for Christmas. The tree is up. The house is decorated. This is our last Christmas without our little boy.

Have a good day in moms tummy little man. Be good. And try to hold still tonight- your dad needs sleep!

Love,

Dad

Me and you kid.

Hello Baby Boy!

You’ll be here in 119 days! This week I started being able to feel you kick if I put my head on moms tummy. It’s pretty incredible- sometimes it sounds like you are knocking on a tiny door, other times it sounds like you dropped a water balloon. You’re in there! And moving more than ever!

Well son- your nursery is done, your dresser is full of brand new clothes, your stroller is sitting in the dining room, and I think we’ve got everything ready. So now… we wait. And wait. And wait. Come on dude!

Since we are done getting ready for you for now, I’m more focused on getting mom taken care of now. You would be amazed how many clothes your momma wears in a week! She has tons of maternity clothes- but each morning before work she can’t find anything to wear.

I try to get out of the shower and out of the bathroom/bedroom before she gets done drying her hair. Things get a little touch-and-go after that, because she gets kind of upset sometimes when her clothes don’t fit.

Last week I was in there twice when she got to the clothes picking stage. I got to see first hand what she goes through while trying to get ready, and I didn’t like it. You see son, your dad works really hard. I went to school for my Bachelors Degree in Management, then went back for my Masters Degree. I have an MBA now. Also, I was recruited by the company I work at and your mom and I moved across the country, leaving all of our friends and family in San Diego so that we could be successful in Tampa.

After all of this effort and sacrifice in pursuit of an amazing life- it drives me CRAZY that your mom has nothing to wear. As hard as I work I think your mom should have 3 closets full of clothes, a nice car, and anything that her little heart desires. (Within reason.)

So when I saw that she was so upset trying to get dressed I made a decision- time for a shopping spree.

Yesterday I took you and your momma to the Orlando Outlets and Motherhood Maternity. We set up shop in the dressing room, and I helped her try on at least 50 different items. She looked ADORABLE. We got her so much cool stuff! We also got her lots of comfortable flat shoes so her feet won’t hurt so bad.

Mom spent so much time getting ready for you that we forgot to take care of her. Not anymore! She’s all set!

I love you both so much. It blows my mind every day that my kid, my son, my little dude- is inside the person I love more than anyone in the world. There have been so many days where I have looked at your mom, my wife, and thought “I couldn’t possibly love you more.”

That wasn’t true. Now that you’re in there I definitely love her even more. Sometimes I feel like my heart or my head might explode- just so excited and proud. You better be ready to kick butt in life buddy, no pressure. Haha.

See you in March little guy.

Love,

Dad

Mom is making you things! And you keep kicking her!

Your momma has been hard at work creating awesome little touches for your bedroom. She’s made you an amazing sign that says “Adventure,” and a crazy cool mobile for above your crib. And what do you do to thank her? You keep kicking her!

Just kidding little buddy- we LOVE you kicking. We are starting to understand your schedule- seems like you sleep most of the day when mom is upright. Once she eats dinner and lays down to relax, you wake up and start doing Zumba!

Sometimes she tells me you are being all crazy and I lay my head or hand on her tummy and feel you making a ruckus. Last night you threw a really solid punch and made mom yell “wow!”

Love you little guy. Here’s the sign mom made you:

Here is the mobile she made you:

Here’s is your mom working on that mobile:

Here’s your dad assembling your crib:

Here is a shot of your nursery:

And here is your sign above your dresser and with your stuffed animals. (Who are anxiously awaiting your arrival.)

Your first bedtime story

Hello Lil’ Man,

You are 20 weeks and 1 day as of today, halfway to being born! You are the size of a banana, and weigh about 8.5 ounces according to the websites we read. You recently got taste buds.

I worked yesterday, so it wasn’t a full weekend of posting notes to you. Today I took mom (and you by proxy) to breakfast at Cracker Barrel, then to a craft fair in Safety Harbor. I’ve never seen so many people crammed into a tiny place before. It was a little stressful because I was trying to guard moms tummy so no one bumped you, and mom thinks she is invincible. She just walks right through crowds and darts in between people.

I guess I’m over protective. But you are precious cargo!

We just laid down to bed a little bit ago, and I asked, actually more like told your momma that I wanted to read you a story tonight. I have no idea what you think when I try to talk to you, but hopefully you can hear me and know my voice already.

Anyway, I went to your room, (yeah man! You have a room!) and I grabbed a book called Good Morning, Good Night. I snuggled up real close to moms tummy and put my mouth/face a few inches away from you. I opened the book and began, “arble-garble-mummph-aff-blarb-tarff.”

Just kidding! I read you the story. But I like to imagine all you hear is nonsense in there.

Anyway- it was nice to read to you. I hope you could hear me and enjoyed it too.

Love you kiddo,

Dad

Moms working on your bedroom.

It’s Sunday. Moms making a window treatment for your bedroom window. She is staining a piece of wood, then we are going to add hooks and mount it above your window to hang your curtains.

Your dad is marinating wings and getting ready for football. I just fixed the light switch in your room and worked on your floor a little bit.

If you wonder what all the yelling is today around 4pm, the Chargers are playing the Raiders.

This is your parents on Sunday- 4 months before you were born. Just preparing for you, daydreaming about you, and counting the days until you get here. 147 to be exact.

We love you little dude.

Dad

Your first piece of furniture!

Dear Little Fellar,

What a day! Shew! Your mom and I started out super early this morning on “The Great Dresser Adventure.” Mom had a place lined up that had lots of antique dressers posted, and we drove out to Clearwater to pick one up. It turned out that the guy pulled a “swoop and swat” meaning that he posted a photo of a dresser he didn’t have to make people drive all the way there- only to try and sell them another product when they got there. Car dealers do this a lot – they advertise a super cheap car, then when you get to the dealership it’s magically sold.

After that place was a bust your mom and I pulled over and started looking online. We ended up finding your dresser waaaaaaay out in Hudson. It was made by the company Kline, that eventually became Ethan Allen. It’s a numbered piece, the 17th one ever made. Don’t trash it!

Here’s a photo of the dresser when we picked it up:

But your mom had a plan. You’ll never see the dresser like this! She had lined up a custom furniture guy- and immediately after picking it up we drove it to him. He worked some magic on it- and when we picked it up it looked like this:

That’s it! Your first piece of furniture! Custom! All yours! And here are your first 3 stuffed animals Milton, Sunshine Bear, and Elephant on it!

Love you squirt,

Dad

“Aaaaaaaaa shuooooooop!”

Good morning kiddo!

Your momma has been going through some subtle changes as she grows you in her tummy. It’s pretty awesome to watch. She is just about the cutest she has ever been. Whatever chemicals you are making moms body produce are making her absolutley adorable.

Its 6:30am on Saturday morning and I was sitting on the couch. Your mom was still in bed with the bedroom door shut. Suddenly I hear  “Haaaaaaaaaaaaa schteupppppppppppp!!!”from the depths of the bedroom. Your mom is awake!

I got up from the couch and headed to the bedroom. Just as my hand hit the door handle it opened from the inside and your mom was standing there.

It can’t be verified- but I believe your mom just SNEEZED HERSELF AWAKE!!!

Here are some interesting exchanges from this morning:

Me: What do you want to do today? Do you want to take the boat out?

Your mom: Ummmm… you want to get a dresser?

Me: You want to get a pedi today? You need some pampering.

Your mom: Ohhhh a dresser with a mirror!

Me: Do you want to go to the outlets and get some stuff?

Your mom: What? Outlets? Shopping? No.

On some show on TV they just sold a $1000 cigar-

Me: Honey what would you do if someone gave you a $1000 cigar to smoke?

Your mom: I’d sell it. And get a dresser.

Mom scrolls frantically through her cell phone then states, “ok- this place, has.. a lot of… dressers.”

Mom: Usually cribs have to be ordered. That’s just how it goes.”

Mom: Now let’s look at cribs on Wayfair!

Singing *Wayfair you got just what I need!*

Me: Are you going to take me to do anything fun today?

Mom: Sure! Let’s go bowling!

Me: I want to go to Nickies for breakfast.

Mom: Okay! Let’s go! (The fastest she has ever made a decision in 5 years)

Mom: This gray crib isn’t dark enough for you?

Me: I don’t know it’s kind of light for a boy. I think the difference between a girlie crib and a boy crib is a shade of gray. (Very philosophical this morning)

**Now I am in the bathroom, and I just received texts. One is a photo of a gray crib. The second text says “see, it can be a boy crib!”**

Mom: Is there a Hobby Lobby around here?

Me: If you take me to Hobby Lobby I will end up with a remote control plane.

Mom: Look! This moose head is $25! At Hobby Lobby!

Me: Are you hungry?

Mom: Yes. Yes I am.

Okay son- time to get you and mom fed and watered. Heading out. You’ll be 19 weeks tomorrow! Almost halfway there!

Enjoy breakfast and our errands today. Mom Moving around all day should make it nice and cozy for you in there.

Also thought of a name for you yesterday mom and I really like…

Love you little dude,

Dad

Your mom, Trollis, and Deception

We just finished dinner. Your mom put her plate away, then grabbed Trolli Gummy Worms. She looked at me and asked, “would you like a Trolli?”

I replied, “no thank you.”

She then tossed the bag over at me and said “don’t let me eat anymore!” I said sure.

Then I looked over at the table near her and spotted this:

She had a Trolli ration stash! What the heck!?? Your mom is ridiculous.

Love,

Dad

And hey- to all of our readers, we just had our travel site streamlined and simplified. Please check out http://www.RateRhino.com

Jackpot! Thank you Meagan!

Dear little Dude,

I just got home from work and your mom has piles and piles of new clothes for you! You have nicer duds than me dude! Jamie is SO EXCITED, and posed for all these photos.

I don’t even think you can wear all this stuff before you grow out of it!

I just talked to you in the tummy. I wonder what you heard. Probably something like “arble-garble-rabble-rabble-rargh.” That translates to “I love you son.”
